What I have learnt when Mika was still a newborn baby:
1. Baby poops a lot
2. You should sleep when she's asleep, let someone help with your dirty laundry
3. Baby is not as fragile as an antique crystal vase
4. Baby doesn't need bath very often. In fact, too much bath will dry up her skin. Tropical baby may need only once a day or even once every two days. Pour some drops of pure mineral oil in the water helps protect the skin from drying.
5. Newborns need to be fed as often as possible, as often as 12 feeds a day. Because her tummy is still tiny and breast milk is perfectly absorbed by her body, she will quickly become hungry again after feeding. This will also establish your breast milk production.
6. No need to worry if your breast milk supply is enough, as long as you keep breastfeeding, the supply will go along with the demand.
7. Remember to set the day-night schedule for the baby as soon as you come back from hospital. No need to whisper or close the curtains on daylight. Dim the light and turn the TV off at night.
8. 'Telon' oil works. But babies have sensitive skin so apply moderately.
9. ILU baby massage technique will help colic babies. You can Learn here
10. You can start massage your baby from day one. Learn how here
11. "Tiger in the Tree" baby holding style is not just a style. This will help ease discomfort in baby's tummy. Learn why here
